We are delighted to have been named as the 4th highest donating firm in Scotland after taking part in the charity will-writing campaign. Being a small firm, we are massively proud of this achievement. A total of £4,840 was raised for the Will Aid scheme this year and since we started supporting Will Aid in 1996 we have raised an impressive £26,636. This figure goes towards helping to support the work of their nine partner charities: Action Aid, AgeUK, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, NSPCC, Save the Children, SCIAF, Sightsavers, & Trocaire.

During 2021/22, the Scottish property market witnessed one of the most buoyant and frantic periods in its history with property prices increasing 11.2%, over the course of 2021, according to the UK House Price Index Scotland. During the initial lockdown period many buyers yearned for a home with outdoor space and, due to a lack of spending opportunities, actually managed to increase their savings to put towards a new home. This, combined with the LBTT holiday and exceptionally low interest rates, resulted in huge levels of demand being unleashed after the initial lockdowns.

Under Scots Law, anyone over the age of 12 can make a Will setting out what they would like to happen when they die. It is very easy to fall into the mindset that you are too young and that you do not have anything of value or enough wealth to pass on to justify putting a Will in place. This is a however a common misconception, and it is advisable to have a simple Will put in place sooner rather than later, to ensure that your wishes are recorded, for example what will happen with your children, pets, property, and other assets. Although it would be very rare for someone as young as 12, or indeed most teenagers, to make a Will, certainly all adults of whatever age should consider making a Will.
