Blackwood and Smith are always delighted to welcome new members to our team. Our people have always been our biggest asset and we aim to hire the brightest, friendliest and best we can. Today we are thrilled to introduce Katie Brydon.
Katie is our newest recruit and has just joined Blackwood & Smith as a Residential Conveyancing Paralegal. Katie attended the University of Dundee where she completed a Honours Scots Law (LLB) degree in 2021.
Katie spent last year living in and travelling around Australia. She is now back home in the Scottish Borders and ready to take on a new challenge.
Katie has a working interest in Property and Family Law. Katie also has a keen interest in the modernisation of Scottish Legal System with a focus on encouraging equality and diversity. At University her dissertation explored this topic and was titled “Can Women ‘Have it All’? A study into Gender Diversity in the Legal Profession in Scotland and the Barriers Preventing Progress”. Perhaps you will be seeing a blog post from her on this topic in the future.
Katie has enjoyed getting to know everybody at the firm and feels like she had learnt a lot from already, particularly from the Trainee Solicitors. She has just started her Residential Conveyancing Paralegal Qualification this week. She is keen to make the most of this opportunity and hopes to go on to study a Diploma in Professional Legal Practice later this year. Katie would like to then progress to a position as a Trainee Solicitor once this is completed.
Katie has many interests outside of the law however her hobbies include running, hillwalking and socialising with family and friends.
Katie’s three favourite things (in no particular order) are:
Good coffee with cake.
We really hope you enjoyed getting to know more about Katie, we have certainly enjoyed her company over the past few weeks. Perhaps you will meet her in person during your next transaction with Blackwood & Smith.
