We have been named as one of the top fundraisers in the UK for the Will Aid 2019/20 campaign. Will Aid takes place during the month of November and is a special partnership between the legal procession and the nine UK charities. During Will Aid month, as a participating Solicitor we waive the usual fee for writing a basic Will. Instead, we ask that clients make a charitable donation to Will Aid of an amount suggested by the charity.

As a community so many of you took part in Will Aid last November, not only gaining the peace of mind by writing your Will, but also by helping to fund life changing charity work at the same time.

As a firm we raised £7,885, placing us 6th in the whole of Scotland, this is our 10th year taking part in the Will Aid scheme and every year gets more popular.

Sally Swinney (Senior Partner) said:

“We are absolutely delighted with our efforts and thrilled to have raised so much for yet another year, thank you to each and every member of the community who donated, we are grateful to those who chose to support this initiative”

At the start of the year we had the pleasure of meeting with Katy Williamson from Save the Children, to discuss how the money raised makes a difference to them.  Save the Children is one of the nine charities to benefit from the money raised during Will Aid.

Katy Williamson (Save the Children, Regional Legacy Manager) said:

“Save the Children is so grateful to firms like Blackwood & Smith for their selfless support of Will Aid. Over £900K has been raised for Will Aid to date from such philanthropic firms. Our life-saving work would not be possible without these donations and the gifts in wills so generously left to us. When disaster strikes, these donations enable us to launch help immediately. Every single gift has a huge impact - whether it covers the cost of a single schoolbook or the construction of a new clinic. Thank you to everyone who took part in Will Aid and ensured we can help children not just survive but thrive”
