Blackwood & Smith has a team of four experienced solicitors with support staff who are able to advise on all aspects of private client work. Whilst all Partners deal with residential property sales and purchases on a day to day basis each has further areas of expertise.
MORRIS ANDERSON
Morris Anderson is our Senior Partner with over 30 years experience in private client work and is a member of the Council of the Law Society in Scotland. Morris has a particular interest in litigation and employment law.
patricia watson
Patricia Watson is the Partner primarily responsible for property sales and purchases. She has a great depth of knowledge regarding property in Peebles, Scottish Borders and also in Edinburgh.
SALLY SWINNEY
Sally Swinney is the
Partner specialising in Family Law. She is the Dean
of the Faculty of Solicitors for the Shires of Selkirk
and Peebles and is also a Committee member of the Family Law Association
of Scotland. Sally also undertakes general litigation
and conveyancing.
fiona fleming
Fiona Fleming is the Partner with special responsibility for the Executry and Trust Department. She has provided advice on preparation of Wills and tax planning - particularly Inheritance Tax for over 20 years. She has a further interest in charity law.
JOHN LEYSHON
John Leyshon is the Senior Associate with special interest in the law covering agricultural tenants and farm purchase and sales. He has provided advice in this area for the last seven years and has been involved with updating tenancy agreements under the Agricultural Holdings (Scotland) Act 2003; transfers of Single Farm Payment Entitlements; Sporting rights; purchases, sales and leases including Salmon fishings. John is also able to deal with development sales involving rural land.
